We stand as a deliberate rebellion against throwaway culture, plastic pollution, and planned obsolescence.

Rooted in the dry pine forests, grassland, and azure blue waters of Vernon, British Columbia, Steller & Co. Fine Goods is a modern provisioner dedicated to enduring domestic utility. We believe everyday household objects shouldn't be hidden in closets or routinely tossed into landfills. Treated with intention, care, and craftsmanship, every tool in your home can and should be an art form.

The Modern Provisioner

Steller & Co. Fine Goods was inspired by historic general stores. Although they may have lacked the overwhelming selection we have today, the items they did offer were made from simple, honest materials, designed with the expectation that they would endure demanding daily use. 

We reclaim that uncompromising standard of material honesty and bring it into the modern home. We hold these items in high regard not to be materialistic, but to respect the resources, labor, and energy required to produce them.

Our goal is to provide these items to everyday folks at a fair price and true value. In our experience, the lowest priced object is rarely the best value. Buying cheap, short-lived tools subjects us to an insidious “poverty tax”, forcing us to buy the same poorly made item over and over again, spending far more over time than if we had invested in a single, well-made object from the start. 

Beyond this financial drain on households, cheap goods carry heavy societal costs: the cost of environmental degradation as our water, soil, and air become polluted; the cost to people working for low wages in unsafe conditions; and the economic strain imposed by corporate monopolies eroding local competition . These costs add up, and they are far too often shouldered by the most vulnerable in our global society. 

We do not compete on disposable convenience or artificial price points; we compete on durability, repairability, and intention. We prioritize items that are handmade, responsibly produced, and align with our values, ranging from global heritage icons and modern makers to local Okanagan artisans.

Maker, Materials, Maintenance

We reject generic marketing claims and feigned urgency. Every object brought into our catalog is evaluated through a strict three-part metric:

  • The Maker: We partner exclusively with historical cooperatives, master artisans, and legacy manufacturers who have spent decades, sometimes centuries, refining a single craft.
  • The Materials: We prioritize tactile raw elements that age gracefully, such as wood, brass, steel, copper, and glass. These materials improve with use and age and become imbued with the spirit of the user and their environment. We believe this process encourages reuse and repair rather than replacement.
  • The Maintenance: Our objects are built to be cared for. We provide comprehensive maintenance and repair guides to ensure your items improve with age and outlive synthetic alternatives.

Packaged With Intention

Our commitment to thoughtful living doesn't end with our products. To protect our environment and stay true to our values, our fulfillment protocol is strictly 100% Plastic-Free. Every order sent from our Vernon fulfillment hub arrives packaged in recycled paper, sealed with paper-based tape, and affixed with non-toxic shipping labels. If you are lucky enough to live in the Vernon area, your order may even be hand delivered to you by our founder via bicycle.
